I thought I was doing really well with controlling my spending habits. The original draft for this blog boasted of how the creation of lookbooks meant I was browsing online to blog rather than to buy, and it went like this…
“If there is one thing I’ve discovered through my last two blog posts (a winter jackets lookbook and a Christmas gifts for her guide) it’s that browsing online for a blog post is actually the best deterrent from my compulsive spending habit. By the time I’ve searched for items for a blog post, I’m way too done with online window shopping to even think about looking for myself, so expect a lot more lookbook-esque posts! It’s like therapy for me”.
I feel like I can’t post that introduction and feel authentic about it now, since I accidentally stumbled into the Topshop sales earlier this morning and got a little carried away. If you’ve seen that sale you will understand that it simply couldn’t be helped. So this is a disclaimer: the lookbooks are not helping at all. Nonetheless, they’re super fun to make and I feel like there is always an excuse for a new pair of ankle boots, especially at this time of year. Here are some of my favourites currently online.
LIFE IN PLASTIC
I feel like vinyl coming back into fashion has been greeted with the same confusion as marmite: some people love it, others will despite it. You may have noticed from previous blog posts that I’m pretty obsessed with Vinyl currently. If you’re on my side of the fence then you may enjoy some of these vinyl ankle boots.
ASOS, £32.99- I am obsessed with that askew square heel.
STUDS AND BUCKLES
Instantly add a little bit of grunge to any outfit with studded buckle boots! There are endless options online currently (all mimicking Topshop’s highly sought after, and usually sold out, AMY boots) but here are my picks:
ALL WHITE EVERYTHING
I remember when my older sister purchased a pair of stiletto heeled white boots circa 2006, I swore I would never own a pair of white boots in my life (sorry @mycopperfox). That was thrown out the window when I saw these pictures of Selena Gomez looking annoyingly perfect playing in a kids park, wearing only double denim and white boots.
The build up to Christmas this year has felt like all work and no play for the most part. Between two part time jobs, university exams and trying to squeeze in a few Christmas parties and secret santa nights, I’ve barely had a chance to create any of the festive blogs I had planned- I’ll plan better next year, promise. A Christmas parties lookbook is in planning, however, I imagine by the time it’s live it will be very much just a festive parties lookbook, with Christmas well behind us. I’m hoping to use my own pictures in future lookbooks but I’d love to know what you think. Do you prefer website photographs or my own styled images? Let me know in the comments. Merry Christmas and happy shopping! x
